Joan Sims as a matter of fact.

Little bit of trivia - Joan Sims was born and brought up in Laindon railway station, where her dad was station master.

I cant understand how or why these films are held in such high regard.

They're shit. Every one of them.

if you've seen one, you've seen 'em all.

Abroad when they are coming down the drive to the hotel and they are still building it. Then the manager Peter butterworth Pepe/Pedro? Issues greetings and welcomings at the reception.

Shouts for the bell boy but he doesn't come to collect their luggage so he complains about not being able to get the staff these days and says he will go and get him, returns in a bell boy uniform and delivers the luggage. Then reappears as waiter, chef and so on wearing all the hats, wife Hattie Jaques works in the kitchen.

It's easy to get confused with the old comedy series but James Robertson Justice featured as Sir Lancelot Spratt in the Doctor in the House films never appearing in a Carry on film.

Wilfred Hyde White has his rectal temperature taken with a tulip in Carry on Nurse.

That's because it was originally just called, Don't Lose Your Head.

All of them with the exception of the convenience one, I particularly enjoyed the hospital carry ons with Matron Hattie Jacques and James Robertson Justice as the pompous surgeon, one film also had Wilfred Hyde White as the non stop complaining patient who had a daffodil stuck up his arse by a nurse believing it to be a thermometer.
